Yes, the blog is up and running.
It was not that hard. I wanted to try how easy it is to start a blog with the tools currently available. I evaluated Blogger and WordPress and of course decided to use Worpress (it is the way to go nowadays said colleagues). WordPress seemed a little easier to use, with more options for page hierarchy.
With default settings, everything is always easy. But I am a little disappointed that I don’t have full access to modify themes. I purchased the Edit CSS feature and modifed some things. But this still feels like hacking with no full access to html code.
I could naturally run this on our company server. However, I prefer the idea of just starting a blog in the cloud, without any need to worry about installations or scalability. But the price to pay is that we lose some control. People say that clouds will do just that and eventually will change the way we code programs. I don’t quite believe in that, but we’ll see…
BTW, is it ok to write a first post about running a blog? I don’t know, and don’t care. This company blog is as unofficial as possible. Anybody in DevTrain can write just about anything. All Aboard! (Ozzy’s laugh…)
